Probably a really silly question, but I've just seen a house for sale described as a "Quarter House" by the estate agents. This is a term I'm not familiar with.
My guess is that it means one of a group of four houses attached to each other in a square formation, like two pairs of semi-detached houses joined by their back walls, but I can't find a definition anywhere to confirm this.
Is my guess right, or does it mean something different?
Thanks.

Link, please? Back-to-back houses are v rare these days - most of them were demolished after the Second World War.

I have absolutely no idea what they mean by it.
But, from what you say, I'd call it a back-to-back terrace with a marketing department.
Does the terminology particularly matter? What does the listing show?

Give us a link and we might be able to explain it. Aren't there photos or a floor plan which will help?

There are still many in Leeds and surrounding areas. Although not just four in a block so I can’t help with the OPs question.

A lot of modern smaller or 'starter' homes are built this way, back to back or 'cluster' houses.

Looks from the floorplan like it's only the front half of the house - so if you imagine a semi-detached, where you have an adjoined next door neighbour. Then cut that semi in half front to back - someone has the front half and someone the back. So you have a two-storey house with adjoining neighbours on your side and your rear.
It's pretty much a two-bedroom flat in a house format.

Indeed. My son bought one a few years ago, 6 houses in a 3x2 format.

4 houses built as a single block.
There are still thousands of Victorian back to backs in Leeds.

As others have said they are back to back houses.
They have made a come back on many new housing estates.
